Internal Auditor

NREL's Office of Internal Audit is seeking an Internal Audit Professional at the Senior Associate or Senior level to provide intermediate independent and objective internal audit and advisory services adhering to the Institute of Internal Auditor's (IIA) Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) and participate in reviewing allegations of fraud, waste, or abuse. Job Duties Include: Perform all phases (planning, risk assessment, fieldwork, reporting and follow-up) of risk-based internal audit and advisory engagements in accordance with the IIA's Standards and Code of Ethics incorporating data analytics as appropriate to increase efficiency and assurance coverage. Leverage results of engagements to formulate meaningful recommendations and impactful reports focused on improving the efficiency or effectiveness of operations, risk management, control activities, and governance processes. Contribute to the ongoing monitoring of NREL's risk profile and emerging risks, and selection of risk-based internal audits and advisory engagements. Build and maintain collaborative business relationships and credibility with stakeholders. Contribute to the ongoing maturity of the internal audit function, including enhancing internal audit methodologies and processes, the quality assurance improvement program, and raising awareness of internal audit. Review and interpret new laws, prime contract updates, regulations, policies, and procedures to determine impact on internal audit methodologies or plan. Review allegations of fraud, waste, and abuse. Basic Qualifications Senior Associate Internal Auditor ~ Professional III: Bachelor's Degree and 5 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience, or Master's Degree and 3 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience, or PhD or equivalent relevant education/experience, or JD or equivalent relevant education/experience.
