Title: Firefighter/EMT (Uncertified) Division: Fire & Rescue Department: Fire & Rescue Section: Operations Supervisor: Shift Captain FLSA: Classified/Non-Exempt Wage Level : Grade 56 Hiring Range: $20.49 - $22.61 DOE Full Salary Range: $20.49 - $26.21 DOE Origination: July 2021 Revision: June 2023 BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The Uncertified Firefighter/EMT shall be a sworn firefighting position. Upon acceptance of this position the selected applicant shall pass an NFPA 1583 physical and will be required to pass this physical annually along with passing the required annual physical assessments. The uncertified firefighter will have to complete a rigorous fire academy within the permitted time given by the Fire Chief or designee. Once he/she has completed the fire academy and obtained their Hazardous Materials Operations, Firefighter 1 and 2, NWCG S-130/190/L-180 certifications, all required NIMS certifications, driver operator, basic EMS for firefighters and an approved CPR course they will be assigned to a shift. While on shift they will be expected to continue training, respond to emergencies, complete apparatus and facility checks, keep equipment stocked and maintained, and all other duties assigned by the Fire Chief or designee. They will then begin their Emergency Medical Technician Basic training and upon course completion he/she will be given a maximum of 3 opportunities to pass the National Registry test. Once they complete all above items they will be recognized as a certified firefighter. This position is 48 hours on duty/96 hours on duty scheduled position, however during training this position may work 40-hours a week until completion of the fire academy.
