New York City Ballet is seeking an experienced Controller with a stable work history within complex organizations, preferably in the non-profit industry. This is a management position reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Charged with a full range of managerial and supervisory responsibilities, the ideal candidate is a strong communicator and skilled accountant/financial analyst who will be responsible for the managing and reporting of the company's financial activities while ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal management reporting requirements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides primary assistance to the CFO in managing the overall financial and accounting functions of the Finance department, working to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the department including monthly close. Establishes organizational-wide financial safeguards, implementing standards, identifying emerging issues, and making improvements to processes and systems where applicable. Oversees all accounting processes and the accuracy of financial reporting in conformance with GAAP, including tax reporting, endowment tracking, cash flow, annual audits, and Form 990 preparation. Provides oversight and periodic review of general ledger transactions for all accounting cycles, including receivables, payables, and payroll, making sure to analyze accounts and record and adjust entries as needed. Monitors organization's purchasing activity across departments to ensure that purchasing policies and practices are implemented.
