New Mexico State University Alamogordo is seeking a full time Assistant Professor of Welding Technology Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities: Provide 30 credit hours of instruction per academic year in Welding Technology and related fields. Work closely with local industry for curriculum assessment and student employment. Chair a Welding Technology Advisory Board. Participate in degree marketing and associated student recruitment and retention activities within the community and at area high schools. Develop and update curriculum and teaching materials as needed. Advise students about the welding program and its courses. Teach weekends, evenings, online and hybrid classes, and off-campus within service area. Participate in professional development to maintain professional currency and improve teaching skills. Participate in committee assignments and other institutional service. Participate in community and society service. Conduct on-going student learning assessment at the course and program level. Perform other duties, as assigned. Required Qualifications and Knowledge: Associate's Degree in welding technology or a closely related field and 5 years of welding experience and 1 year of teaching experience OR appropriate welding certificates and 8 or more years of welding experience. Note: Finalists will be required to provide a teaching demonstration. Two-years full-time or equivalent part-time teaching experience in welding technology or related field courses. Ability to teach focused on the shielded metal arc, gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, and oxyacetylene/plasma arc/carbon-cutting processes in accordance with American Welding Society standards, plasma cutting, blueprint and welding symbols, welding safety, metallurgy, and weld quality.
